What We Mean by Working With Diverse Hair Types
At BAMS, my specialty is working with diverse hair types, textures, and cultural hair practices. Hair is not one-size-fits-all — and neither is care, education, or understanding.
My salon is a space where conversation, learning, and community are just as important as the service itself. I actively create opportunities to talk about shared cultures, lived experiences, and the unique needs of different hair types — because representation and understanding matter.
Through ongoing conversations with local salons, artists, and schools, it’s become clear that there is a significant lack of education around diverse hair in our current school system. This gap affects confidence, inclusion, and how young people learn to care for themselves and each other.
At BAMS, I aim to be part of the change — offering a safe, respectful space where all hair types are seen, supported, and celebrated, and where education is shared openly, without judgement.
