Moon Work

Crown Astrology & Moon Work
The crown is a living sky, a constellation of spirals, each lock a star in orbit. Just as the moon pulls the tides and stirs the waters within us, it also whispers to the crown, guiding us through cycles of growth, release, and renewal.
Working with astrology and moon phases invites us to sync DreadCraft with celestial rhythms. Under the New Moon, we set intentions, weaving fresh energy into our locs through adornment, oils, or simple words of power. The Waxing Moon supports growth and strengthening rituals, perfect for nurturing the roots and feeding the scalp. The Full Moon is a time of illumination — cleansing, deep washing, and charging beads or tools in her light. As the Waning Moon draws energy inward, we release: trimming loose ends, detoxing, or cutting away what no longer serves.
Astrological transits deepen this work. Fire moons bring courage to begin; water moons call us to cleanse; earth moons root us in care; air moons invite us to braid intention into form. By attuning to these rhythms, dreadcraft becomes not just maintenance, but cosmic ceremony.
When we honor the crown in alignment with the heavens, our locs become more than hair — they become celestial threads, weaving us into the great tapestry of earth and sky.
Lunar Crown Rituals
🌑 New Moon – Planting Seeds
Wash or mist your crown with herbs or oils that feel fresh and inspiring.
Hold your locs in your hands and whisper an intention you wish to grow.
Adorn with a new bead, charm, or thread to carry this intention forward.
🌒 Waxing Moon – Nourishment & Growth
Massage your scalp with oils or herbal infusions to feed the roots.
As you twist, palm-roll, or maintain, visualize strength and vitality spiraling upward.
Speak affirmations of growth: “With each lock, I grow stronger.”
🌕 Full Moon – Illumination & Power
Cleanse your locs deeply — detox, smoke cleanse, or moon-bathe them in her light.
Lay your tools, adornments, and oils beneath the moon to charge them.
Dance, braid, or weave into your crown with joy, letting the moon’s fullness flow through you.
🌘 Waning Moon – Release & Renewal
Trim loose ends, brush out old threads, or remove adornments that no longer serve.
Wash with cleansing herbs (rosemary, sage, lavender) to clear stagnant energy.
Thank your crown for what it has carried, and let go with gratitude.
